LEARN ESSENTIAL GERMAN IN FIVE MINUTES! - 25TH MAY 2006
This summer’s World Cup will see supporters from 32 different nations come together in Germany, for a mammoth festival of football. Indeed more than 100,000 fans from England alone are expected to travel to the finals to take in the atmosphere and cheer on the team.
However as a recent Joma survey conducted on 4thegame.com has shown that just 49% of English supporters travelling to the finals can speak German to a standard required to get by in day-to-day situations.
The English infamously often rely on our European counterparts to speak our language even when we are abroad, but in the spirit of international friendship perhaps we ought to do better!
Gesticulating and pointing will only get you so far and you might need to know a bit more than the simple multi-national language of football.
So whether you’re ordering food, looking for the ground, buying the beers or chatting with the locals about the match, you might want to check out and print a copy of Joma’s essential guide to all the key phrases you’ll need this summer:
